Tadpole Farm Garden Village

The design codes for Tadpole Farm seek to deliver Crest Nicholson’s vision of a 21st Century Garden Village for Swindon. This will be characterised by predominantly lower density family housing with front and rear gardens, on plot parking and generous streets and spaces.

The code promotes design which will encourage social interaction at the village and neighbourhood level. Tree lined avenues with wide green verges create a strong sense of arrival. A high quality public realm incorporates large areas of accessible, public green space, including a new common for new and existing residents.

The code sets out how the Garden Village principles should be expressed through the design of a typical plot and building, considering elevational composition, architecture and materials, reducing external clutter and parking design.

The Phase 1 codes were well received by local residents and politicians and will eventually be extended across the development.
